Finding the right therapeutic fit is key to your patient's success. Our creative arts therapy intensive outpatient program (IOP) offers a valuable, evidence-based option for adolescents and adults who can benefit from expressing themselves in non-verbal ways.
Held at our Hinsdale location, this program provides a supportive, group-based environment where healing happens through doing.
An evidence-based way to unlock expression
Creative arts therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses the creative process—not artistic skill—to help patients explore emotions and improve their wellbeing. It is an effective modality for those who may have difficulty with or have not fully benefited from traditional talk therapy.
This approach can help patients achieve meaningful progress in several areas, including:
- Improving cognitive and sensorimotor functions
- Increasing self-esteem and self-awareness
- Strengthening emotional regulation
- Building healthy social skills
- Resolving internal conflict and distress
Program structure and referral criteria
The creative arts IOP integrates several disciplines to provide a comprehensive therapeutic experience. Modalities include art and music therapy, dance/movement therapy, animal-assisted therapy, and more.
This program is designed to help: Adolescents and adults (Ages 12+) with a primary mental health diagnosis, such as depression, anxiety or PTSD, who are ready to engage in their recovery through experiential and creative methods.
Ensuring the right fit: To provide the most effective care, this program is not intended for individuals who require primary treatment for a substance use or eating disorder. We are always available to consult with you to find the most appropriate care setting for any patient.
