Cancer screenings save lives

Even as we continue to make great strides in cancer treatment, early detection is key. Screenings provide an opportunity to catch precancerous cells or cancer in its earlier stages, when it’s easier to treat successfully. Endeavor Health Cancer Institute offers a range of cancer screenings, including:

  • Breast (mammogram, ABUS)
  • Colonoscopy
  • Low dose lung CT scan
  • Ovarian
  • Prostate
  • Skin
  • Testicular

Because each individual’s risk factors for cancer are unique, depending on age, sex, health history, family history and more, ask your Endeavor Health Medical Group physician or other healthcare professional which cancer screenings you need and how often.

Cancer subspecialties

Meeting your individual needs requires the experience and innovation of physicians with highly specialized training and deep knowledge of your specific cancer type. And that’s just what Endeavor Health Cancer Institute offers with its cancer subspecialists, also called oncology subspecialists, who create highly personalized treatment plans based on the most current cancer research and innovations.

Hope for a nonsmoker with lung cancer

Amanda Warford thought she just had a lingering cough. Instead, this 42-year-old nonsmoker was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer and spots were also found in her brain. But her story doesn’t end there. “Thanks to advancements in oncological technology, we were able to isolate a genetic mutation within (Warford’s) lung cancer cells," said Marina Messinger, MD. “This allowed us to use a pill for targeted therapy to successfully treat her cancer with mild side effects.”

Alexis Barbour oncology patient

A breast cancer story of hope

When 41-year-old Alexis Barbour began experiencing symptoms, including a lump she felt during a self-examination, she quickly took action. Less than one year later, she had her first surgery, which included breast reconstruction at the same time. “Alexis had a complicated cancer, and I created our surgical plan to optimize her oncologic and cosmetic outcomes,” said Katherine Kopkash, MD. “Working as a team with Dr. Seth, we were able to achieve our goals utilizing a nipple-sparing mastectomy and immediate reconstruction.”

Mick Jackson oncology patient

Meet Mick, the man who beat cancer twice

Six years ago, 74-year-old Mick Jackson went through chemotherapy and radiation to treat lymphoma. In September 2022, he experienced a relapse with extensive disease in his bone marrow, liver and lymph nodes. Jackson’s former hematologist, Lynne Kaminer, MD, was ready to care for him again, and enlisted David Grinblatt, MD, to help. Jackson became Endeavor Health’s first patient to undergo chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy.
