Partial and full knee replacements restore mobility for award-winning athlete

No one wants to be slowed down by arthritis. And for recently-crowned world champion triathlete, Diane Ragalie, “slow” isn’t in her vocabulary. Fortunately, the 70-year-old competitor turned to Ravi Bashyal, MD, an expert in minimally-invasive custom knee and hip replacements at Endeavor Health Orthopaedic & Spine Institute. The combination of Dr. Bashyal’s world-class expertise and Ragalie’s determination delivered winning results.

Scoliosis treatment for the win

When Ben Freedman’s parents realized that their 4-year-old son’s curvature in his back was getting worse — his shoulders were uneven and his gait was a bit off — they knew it was time for more help. From that point forward, David Roberts, MD, pediatric orthopaedic surgeon with Endeavor Health, became their guide for their son’s progressive scoliosis. This is a story of treatment and triumph for this teenager, who is an avid runner. It is a true testament to the power of a collaborative relationship between a patient, his parents and the surgeon who met their needs.

Walking away from his wheelchair

“I didn’t think I’d be able to walk again and Dr. Sullivan said one day I’d be able to dance again. He and his team have done so much for me,” said Edward Sampong. Although he thought his pain originated in his knees, Endeavor Health orthopaedic surgeon Ryan Sullivan, MD, did a comprehensive assessment and found that Sampong’s hips were the source of his problem. Sampong is no longer wheelchair-bound and his relatives no longer need to carry him around the house due to his excruciating pain when walking.
