Screenings & preventive care

Completing age-appropriate screenings at recommended intervals is one of the most important things you can do for your health. Screenings are medical tests that check for diseases and health conditions before there are any signs or symptoms, in order to identify problems early on when they may be easier to treat.

The type of screenings your Endeavor Health Medical Group doctor recommends are based on your age, sex, medical history, family history and other individual factors, and may include:

  • Blood pressure check
  • Blood tests (to check cholesterol, blood sugar, etc.)
  • Body mass index (BMI) check
  • Depression/anxiety screen
  • Pap/HPV test, pelvic exam (women)
  • Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, prostate exam (men)
  • Tests for bacterial infections or viruses
  • Tests for sexually transmitted infections, HIV
  • Vision screening/retina scanners

Your PCP may refer you to other specialists for additional screenings, including a vision or hearing test, skin check, mammogram, colonoscopy, heart scan, lung screening, bone density scan and others. With access to a robust breadth of services through the health system, you experience a smooth referral and scheduling process.

Additionally, vaccinations are another important tool doctors use to help prevent certain illnesses or lessen their severity if they occur. In addition to the standard immunizations recommended for children, adults may receive vaccines to protect against illnesses like influenza, COVID-19, shingles, pneumonia and others.

Primary care options revolve around you

There are many different types of healthcare professionals who specialize in different types of primary care. When you need streamlined care for the whole family, a family medicine physician can be the most convenient choice. Family medicine physicians see people of all ages, from infants to seniors. They are board certified and have specific knowledge of the body at any life stage.

Internal medicine physicians, also called internists, typically treat adult patients ages 18 and up. They are board certified and have specific knowledge of the internal organs and the development of adults. Some internists specialize in certain diseases like diabetes management, parts of the body, or life stages such as senior care.

The family medicine physicians and internal medicine physicians at Endeavor Health Medical Group provide compassionate care for all your medical needs and concerns, including screenings to help you stay on top of preventable diseases. Some perform annual well-woman visits. If you prefer this option, please verify it’s available at your physician’s office.

From your first gynecological exam, through motherhood, to menopause and beyond, Endeavor Health Medical Group experts provide comprehensive women’s health services to help you stay well. You’ll find skilled physicians in obstetrics and gynecology, pregnancy and childbirth, breast health, general wellness, nutrition and more. We also have experts who can assist with fertility, reproductive genetics and pregnancy-related concerns.

Obstetricians and gynecologists (OB/GYNs) provide comprehensive well-woman care for women in all stages of life. Depending on your insurance benefits, they can serve as your primary care physician, providing preventive visits and screenings. OB/GYNs are experts in the female reproductive system and are trained to care for women during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as manage disorders of the female reproductive system, including performing surgery.

It’s a common misconception that certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) should only be visited if you’re pregnant, but they can actually provide a wide range of care. If you’re looking for a more natural approach to well-woman care at various stages in your life, midwives can act as your primary care provider (if allowed by your insurance). They can perform annual exams and help you navigate your care between specialists throughout the comprehensive Endeavor Health network.

At Endeavor Health Medical Group, we believe in integrating care through a patient’s lifetime — and that starts at birth. A pediatrician is a physician who treats newborns, children and teens. They are board certified and focus on the healthy development of children, following their care until they switch to either a family or internal medicine physician.

From infancy through adolescence, our pediatricians partner with your child through important developmental milestones, provide well-child visits and vaccinations to keep them healthy, and help you navigate any illnesses or challenging diagnoses that arise. They are constantly adapting to the latest evidence-based pediatric care recommendations to ensure your child has access to state-of-the-art, personalized care.
