At Endeavor Health, our commitment to healthier communities includes empowering individuals with lifesaving CPR and first aid skills. We offer training at Edward and Elmhurst Hospitals through our Community Training Center, one of the largest in the region. Each year, we provide CPR, first aid, and advanced life support training to thousands of individuals.
Our team of American Heart Association (AHA) certified instructors teach a variety of classes designed to meet diverse training requirements.
Our Community Training Center offers numerous classes, including:
- BLS provider (for healthcare workers)
- BLS provider recertification (for healthcare workers)
- Heartsaver AED CPR (certification level for the non-healthcare fields)
- First aid basics
- CPR/family & friends (not a certification course)
- Advanced life support (ACLS/PALS)
In addition to classes offered at Edward Hospital and Elmhurst Hospital, we also provide training for businesses, churches, and schools throughout the region. Call us at (630) 527-5335 to schedule training.
Why learn CPR?
Effective bystander CPR that is provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival, but only 32 percent of cardiac arrest victims get CPR from a bystander.
According to the American Heart Association (AHA), nearly 88 percent of cardiac arrests occur in the home or away from a hospital or physician's office. It is critical for communities to have access to proper training so individuals do not feel helpless in the event of an emergency.
Online courses
If you can’t make it to one of our in-person classes, online learning is a convenient option. To take the online course, continue to our online registration and sign up for an in-person skills session, or call (630) 527-5878 to schedule a time that works within your schedule.
AHA online courses are available for BLS, Heartsaver, as well as ALS (ACLS and PALS).
- Average completion time for the BLS and Heartsaver online portion (Part 1) is 1-2 hours, followed by a required 30–60 minute skills test (Part 2).
- Students who successfully complete Part 1 (the online course) receive a certificate of completion which allows them to attend a hands-on skills practice and testing session (Parts 2 and 3). Submit your certificate of completion to training.center [at] endeavorhealth.org (training[dot]center[at]endeavorhealth[dot]org).
- We suggest you schedule hands-on skills testing (Parts 2 and 3) within 30 days of completing Part 1, but the HeartCode certificate does not expire.
Ecards are issued after successful completion of all parts.
Contact our training center at (630) 527-5878 or email training.center [at] endeavorhealth.org with any questions about online courses.
