Testing for allergies
Testing (blood and skin) for reactions to foods, medications, insect stings, environmental allergens and more.
A controlled medical procedure performed by allergists to determine whether a patient is truly allergic to a specific food or medication. A challenge test involves gradually giving a patient increasing amounts of the suspected food or drug in a controlled clinical setting. The patient is monitored closely by a medical team for any signs of an allergic reaction.
Diagnostic evaluations for immune deficiencies.
Spirometry is a simple breathing test that measures how much air you can inhale and exhale, and how quickly you can exhale. It is commonly used to diagnose and monitor lung conditions such as asthma, COPD and other respiratory disorders. FENO (fractional exhaled nitric oxide) is a noninvasive test that measures exhaled nitric oxide, a marker of airway inflammation, helping to assess and monitor asthma control.
Treatment & management
We develop safe, personalized medical plans to manage your symptoms. These include avoidance, environmental management and, if needed, prescription medications, biologics, IgG Infusions or allergy immunotherapy (allergy shots) based on your individual symptoms and needs.
OIT is a treatment that involves gradually introducing small, controlled amounts of a food allergen — such as peanut, milk or wheat — with the goal of increasing the patient’s tolerance over time. This approach can reduce the risk of severe reactions from accidental exposures and may eventually allow some patients to include the food in their diet. OIT is carefully supervised by an allergist to ensure safety and effectiveness.
A long-term treatment that reduces sensitivity and provides lasting relief.

As one of only seven UCARE-designated health systems in the U.S. — and the only one in Illinois — we are recognized as a center of excellence for the treatment of urticaria (hives).
Frequently asked questions
This specialty focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of allergies, asthma and disorders of the immune system. It includes evaluating symptoms, conducting allergy tests and creating long-term treatment plans.
Allergy shots, or immunotherapy, gradually reduce your immune system's response to environmental allergens. Over time, they can provide lasting relief, even after treatment ends.
If you experience recurring symptoms such as sneezing, rashes or breathing problems, or if over-the-counter treatments don’t help, allergy testing and injections may be appropriate.
Your specialist will take a detailed history, assess your symptoms and may recommend testing. Based on your evaluation, they’ll develop a personalized plan of care.
Endeavor Health’s Allergy division is one of only seven in the U.S. to earn UCARE designation for excellence in urticaria care. We’re proud to lead in patient outcomes and innovation.
