Overview

Our board-certified interventional radiologists use advanced imaging like X-ray, CT, MRI and ultrasound to guide small instruments directly to areas of disease inside the body. These targeted, minimally invasive procedures treat conditions that once required open surgery — allowing us to deliver precise care with minimal disruption to surrounding tissue. The result: faster recovery, lower risk and better outcomes.

Surgeon's hand holding a catheter

From cancer therapies to vascular treatments and spinal procedures, we offer safer, more effective alternatives to traditional surgery. Interventional radiology can also support diagnosis, using image-guided techniques like biopsies and angiograms to help identify conditions with precision and minimal disruption.

Interventional radiology procedures

At Endeavor Health, our interventional radiology team performs a wide range of procedures that treat complex conditions with precision and care:

Angioplasty and stent placement

Opens narrowed or blocked blood vessels to restore healthy blood flow.

Chemoembolization for liver cancer

Delivers chemotherapy directly to a liver tumor through the blood vessels, minimizing exposure to the rest of the body.

Diagnostic angiograms

Detailed imaging of blood vessels to identify blockages, aneurysms or other issues.

Prostate artery embolization

Treats enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) by blocking blood flow to the prostate.

Sacroplasty for pelvic fractures

Injects bone cement into sacral fractures to stabilize the pelvis and relieve pain.

Selective internal radiation therapy (SIR-Spheres Y-90)

Targets liver tumors with tiny radioactive beads delivered through the bloodstream.

Thermal tumor ablation

Destroys cancerous tumors using heat (radiofrequency or microwave energy) directed through a small probe.

Ultrasound- and CT-guided biopsies

Uses imaging to guide precise tissue sampling for accurate diagnosis.

Ultrasound-guided tendon procedures (Tenex)

Breaks up and removes damaged tendon tissue using a minimally invasive, image-guided technique.

Uterine fibroid embolization

Shrinks uterine fibroids by cutting off their blood supply, offering a non-surgical treatment option.

Varicose vein ablation

Closes diseased veins using heat or other minimally invasive techniques to improve circulation and appearance.

Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty

Stabilizes fractured vertebrae to relieve pain and improve mobility.

Conditions we treat with interventional radiology

Aneurysms and arterial disease

Treating narrowed or blocked arteries using minimally invasive approaches.

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

Minimally invasive treatments to remove or dissolve blood clots in large veins.

Enlarged prostate

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a non-cancerous condition in which the enlarged prostate encroaches on the urethra and bladder, causing urinary tract symptoms in 50% of men over age 50 and 80% of men over age 70. Same day, minimally invasive treatment shrinks the prostate.

Varicose veins

Image-guided vein ablation to close problem veins and restore healthy circulation.

Cancer (interventional oncology)

Targeted treatments such as radioembolization and chemoembolization delivered directly to tumors.

Uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroid embolization offers a non-surgical option to shrink fibroids and relieve symptoms.

Vertebral compression fractures

Procedures like vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty stabilize fractures and help relieve back pain.

The benefits of minimally invasive care

Minimally invasive procedures are designed to minimize trauma to the body while delivering powerful results. Patients often experience less pain, fewer complications, shorter hospital stays, and quicker recoveries compared to traditional surgery. Our team also offers advanced techniques like selective internal radiation therapy (SIR-Spheres Y-90) for liver tumors and ultrasound-guided procedures such as Tenex for tendon injuries.
