Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is sometimes used as an add-on therapy for particularly challenging wounds or radiation tissue damage from treatments such as chemotherapy. It delivers 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber to increase oxygen flow to tissues, promoting faster healing and reducing infection risk. In combination with other therapies, it has been proven to significantly improve outcomes.

Conditions that can be treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy:

  • Chronic non-healing wounds
  • Radiation tissue damage
  • Post-surgical wounds
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Infected bone tissue
  • Avascular necrosis (bone tissue death)

Please note: To qualify for HBOT, patients must have had at least 30 days of conventional wound treatment as well as have adequate blood flow to the wound area to make therapy viable.

Frequently asked questions

If your wound hasn’t shown signs of healing after four weeks or you notice signs of infection (redness, swelling, warmth or pus), seek wound care treatment.

We offer debridement, skin graft substitutes, compression therapy, negative pressure therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

In some cases, surgical intervention may be needed for complex wounds that do not respond to other treatments.

HBOT increases oxygen supply to tissues, helping wounds heal faster and reducing infection risk.
