Punk Rock, MD: Embracing chaos on stage and in the ER

Describe your endeavor.

I’m an ER physician, husband, the proud father of three girls, and the lead singer for the Chicago punk band, the Bollweevils. 

What is it about punk rock that draws you?

Being punk is just about being the person you want to be, and saying “here is who I am, and this is what I stand for.” Punks think about how to make change. I always wanted to be a doctor, but I also play in a rock band. I’m just being me. 

How do you think punk rock makes you better at your job?

I have come to realize that my punk life and my medical life allow me to work both sides of my brain. I feel like a full human being.
