As System Chief Nurse Executive at Endeavor Health, John Tressa is responsible for driving nursing excellence across nine hospitals, including eight Magnet-recognized acute care hospitals and 300+ sites of care. In this role, Tressa is dedicated to making sure Endeavor Health’s nurses work in a truly integrated environment where they are empowered to drive their own clinical practice and recognized for their commitment to exceptional patient care.

Tressa’s approach to leadership is authentic and collaborative. He works with the organization’s nine chief nursing officers daily not just as a colleague but as a partner and advocate. Together, they ensure that the care delivered across Endeavor Health is top tier, standardized and consistently meets the goals of being safe, seamless and personal for every person, every time. Additionally, Tressa spends ample time in each of Endeavor Health's acute care hospitals and ambulatory sites, rounding with nurse leaders, engaging with staff and conversing with patients to improve their care experience.

Over the course of his career, Tressa served in CNO, COO and CEO roles at large healthcare organizations across Houston, Texas. His most recent role prior to joining Endeavor Health in 2018 was System Senior Vice President for the heart and vascular and trauma service lines at the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston. With over 40 years of nursing experience, he has had a full and varied career, starting in the pediatric ICU at what is now Lurie Children's Hospital, then working on the inaugural team as a transport nurse for high risk neonatal and pediatric patients before moving to flight nursing at the University of Chicago.

Tressa is a member of the American Organization of Nurse leaders.

Tressa received a Diploma in Nursing from Ravenswood Hospital Medical Center School of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science from the University of St. Francis, a Master of Business Administration from Olivet Nazarene University and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from American Sentinel University. Tressa also earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Northern Kentucky University and is Board Certified as a Nurse Executive Advanced.

For Tressa, nursing has always been a true calling and something he was meant to do. He views his years in nursing as a gift and feels he has always gotten back more than he gave. Tressa is a proud father of two daughters, and when he is not working, he enjoys being active and spending time with his family in their favorite place, Southern California.
