Lakshmi Halasyamani, MD serves as Chief Clinical Officer at Endeavor Health. In this role, Dr. Halasyamani works closely with diverse teams across the system to understand and address the evolving needs of the communities we serve, helping ensure patients have access to expert, equitable, evidence-based care. In shaping the clinical direction of Endeavor Health, Dr. Halasyamani champions initiatives that advance the delivery of safe, seamless and personal care, including population health, value-based care, patient safety and quality. To her work, she brings her experience as a practicing Internal Medicine clinician, an innate curiosity and ability to connect with people of various backgrounds.
She also leads the system’s health equity and believe health equity must be integral from the start, not an afterthought. When investigating ways to improve systems and processes, her guiding philosophy is to first ask, "Is it equitable?" and then, "Will it have an equitable impact?"
Dr. Halasyamani joined Endeavor Health in 2016 as part of NorthShore University HealthSystem and has served in key roles including Chief Quality and Transformation Officer and Chief Medical Officer. She played an integral role in leading clinical efforts throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and served as a trusted voice to our patients and communities during this unprecedented time. Dr. Halasyamani’s leadership ensured that patients with advanced disease or clinically urgent situations received safe and effective care.
Prior to her time at Endeavor Health, Dr. Halasyamani held a variety of physician executive positions, where she consistently demonstrated her leadership in developing patient-centered, team-based and data-driven initiatives to improve the quality of care within hospitals and across hospital systems. She is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago and is the author of multiple peer-reviewed articles. She is known for her proactive approach to continuous improvement, and her contributions have been widely recognized and emulated across the healthcare industry.
Dr. Halasyamani serves on the Lumeris Board of Directors in addition to serving on the boards at Endeavor Health Northshore Hospitals, Endeavor Health Northwest Community Hospital and Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital. She previously served as an elected member of the Harvard Medical School Alumni Council.
Dr. Halasyamani earned a medical degree with honors from Harvard Medical School and completed a residency and chief residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She holds multiple certifications, including LEAN and Six Sigma Black Belt.
In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Halasyamani gives her time volunteering at local clinics and works regularly with a rural health clinic in South India.
