As President, Acute and Ambulatory Operations at Endeavor Health, Sean O’Grady oversees Endeavor Health’s nine award-winning hospitals and ambulatory operations across more than 300 sites, as well as Endeavor’s clinical service lines. He also leads the Endeavor Health Academic Affairs Office and Endeavor Health Research Institute, which is home to more than 550 active clinical trials. Each day, he is driven by the opportunity to make a difference for Endeavor Health team members and the patients we are privileged to serve.

To his role, O’Grady brings proven leadership, strategic and operational expertise, combined with a longstanding passion for service and belief in the power and potential of people working with a shared purpose. Prior to his current role, O’Grady served as President of the North Region and Institutes for Endeavor Health, which included Evanston Hospital, Glenbrook Hospital, Highland Park Hospital, Northwest Community Hospital, Skokie Hospital and Swedish Hospital.

O’Grady began his career with NorthShore University HealthSystem in 2006 as Vice President, Specialty Practices, for NorthShore Medical Group. His progressive roles included serving as Senior Vice President of Evanston Hospital, as President of Glenbrook Hospital and as NorthShore Chief Operating Officer.

Throughout his tenure with NorthShore, O’Grady championed a culture of teamwork and a high degree of integration that became hallmarks of the system’s acute, ambulatory and physician practice operations, as well as a model for how to maximize the strengths of a combined system to serve the needs of patients and the community. This operational and cultural collaboration proved especially impactful throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and in the organization’s response following the tragic July 4, 2022, shooting in Highland Park.

Prior to joining NorthShore, O’Grady worked at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab as Vice President of Operations and at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the BJC Health system in St. Louis in various administrative positions. He completed the David A. Gee Administrative Fellowship at The Jewish Hospital of St. Louis in 1994.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Bradley University and his master’s degree in Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Iowa.

O’Grady is a past president of The University of Iowa Hospital & Health Administration Alumni Board, a member of Faith, Hope & Charity parish in Winnetka and previously served an eight-year elected term as president of Illinois District 29’s (Sunset Ridge) Board of Education.

Whether it’s running an early morning Peloton workout or focused time with family and friends, O’Grady makes mental and physical wellbeing a priority. He and his wife, Buggie, reside in Northfield and are parents to four children and their “energizer” Australian Labradoodle, Micky.
