Evanston, Ill. – Endeavor Health Glenbrook Hospital has been named a 2025 Leapfrog Top Teaching Hospital, placing it among an elite group of hospitals recognized nationally for outstanding performance for patient safety and quality. The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious distinctions in the nation for hospital safety and quality with only a small number of hospitals meeting the exacting standards required for Top Hospital designation.
The news comes after Glenbrook Hospital achieved “Straight A” recognition in November for earning an A grade in five or more consecutive rating cycles of the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, a distinction earned by only about 12% of hospitals nationwide. Endeavor Health Edward Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital, Evanston Hospital, Highland Park Hospital and Northwest Community Hospital also received A grades.
“Being named a Top Teaching Hospital is an incredible honor and a reflection of our commitment to excellence in every dimension,” said Maria Knecht, President, Endeavor Health Glenbrook Hospital. “From training future clinicians to ensuring the highest quality and safest care, this recognition highlights the teamwork, integrity, innovation and culture that make Glenbrook a national leader and a trusted place for our patients and community.”
Over its 48-year history, Glenbrook Hospital has continued to expand its capabilities and deepen its impact on the community. Most recently, the hospital grew its clinical footprint with the opening of the Cardiovascular Institute on the Glenbrook campus in May 2024. Coupled with its academic affiliation with the University of Chicago and the strength of Endeavor Health’s research enterprise, Glenbrook has firmly established itself as a vital regional destination for high-quality, innovative care. Its Magnet® accreditation for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center further reinforces a longstanding foundation of safety, quality and professional practice. None of this progress would be possible without the commitment of Glenbrook’s physicians, nurses, team members and leaders to Endeavor Health’s mission of helping everyone in our communities be their best.
"Endeavor Health Glenbrook Hospital has distinguished itself through an unwavering focus on safety and quality, earning a place on this year’s list of Top Hospitals,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “This recognition reflects a culture of transparency and continuous improvement—one embraced by every member of the organization. We commend the entire team at Glenbrook Hospital for reaching this outstanding milestone."
The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is given to teaching, general, rural and children's hospitals that publicly report their performance through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and meet the high standards defined in the Top Hospitals methodology. Reported information includes infection rates, maternity care and a hospital’s ability to prevent medication errors, among other standards. More than 2,400 hospitals were considered for the award and 156 Top Hospitals were selected.
To qualify for the distinction, hospitals must rank highly among their peers on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which assesses hospital performance based on the highest standards for quality and patient safety, and achieve top performance in their category.
