Registered dietitians are licensed professionals with the foremost expertise in nutrition science. They provide personalized medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to help you optimize your health and meet your personal goals, with consideration for underlying conditions and unique needs. 

No. To become a registered dietitian (RD) or registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN)  you must earn an advanced degree in nutrition science and  pass a national exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). A “nutritionist” does not have set requirements and you should verify their education and credentials before seeking advice.

Insurance coverage varies. Always check with your insurance provider to see if medical nutrition therapy (MNT) is covered for you.
