Although I believe he advised me the best that he could, there is some aspect of lack of experience that comes across when discussing treatment options with him. Patel said multiple times that I shouldn't even have flare up's at this point in my injury and that if I wouldn't pursue surgery he wouldn't excuse an absence from work. I was honestly pretty shocked when I left my appointment because the feeling was less focused on care and medical advice and more focused on surgery being the only option for me to get better at this point. I haven't gotten a second opinion yet and I will be pursuing one, but my caution with ever seeing Patel again is that he had no problem withholding support via medical forms unless I chose his treatment option. To argue with a doctor about how severe your case may be, and have them tell you, \"how can I predict how often or for how long your flare up would last, I don't doubt you're in serious pain, but no surgery no forms\" honestly blew me away.
