Dr. Yogen Patel is pleasant and engaging. I appreciate that he actually touches you while examining you. So many physicians seem to not want to touch the patient during a physical exam. He makes good eye contact and ensures he understands what you are communicating. He remembers who you are and what your needs are from appointment to appointment, which helps you to feel more like a person as opposed to just a patient. He tries the least invasive approach FIRST, which is also important. I'm satisfied with my care.

Dr. Patel suggested that I work with physical therapy first then maybe an injection to help ease the tightness of the nerves around my wrist before surgery, as a last resort. Does make sense, but of course I'm human and want a quick solution. Will listen to what the doctor says

I saw Dr Patel immediately after a really bad two day flare up of pain and discomfort from my healing herniated discs. Although I believe he advised me the best that he could, there is some aspect of lack of experience that comes across when discussing treatment options with him. Patel said multiple times that I shouldn't even have flare up's at this point in my injury and that if I wouldn't pursue surgery he wouldn't excuse an absence from work. I was honestly pretty shocked when I left my appointment because the feeling was less focused on care and medical advice and more focused on surgery being the only option for me to get better at this point. I haven't gotten a second opinion yet and I will be pursuing one, but my caution with ever seeing Patel again is that he had no problem withholding support via medical forms unless I chose his treatment option. To argue with a doctor about how severe your case may be, and have them tell you, "how can I predict how often or for how long your flare up would last, I don't doubt you're in serious pain, but no surgery no forms" honestly blew me away. It felt like a game was being played, and I can't recommend someone who sees medical care for human beings through that type of lens.

Dr. Patel had very poor bedside manner and was flat out rude to my face. Then he proceeded to only address my mother, even though I am an adult patient. He kept repeating he didn't understand my concerns so they were not a real concern. Very dismissive and condescending.
