Dr. Backhus is a fantastic gynecologist. I've been seeing her for nearly ten years, and she's been helpful the entire time, even as my life has changed and I come to her with different kinds of health concerns. One time I met with a different gynecologist because I needed an appointment at a specific time, but then I went right back to Dr. Backhus because her level of care is unmatched. It's important to me for my gynecologist to be communicative and clear about what's happening during the appointment, even more so than other doctors, and Dr. Backhus is exactly that: she always explains what's going to happen ahead of time. She's also really good about explaining different options when there are multiple paths of treatment, listening to my questions and thoughts on the different options, and giving recommendations based on her expertise.

This was my first visit and I felt a little rushed. I felt like there was an attitude towards me for no reason. I was not late. I was not impolite and I was not uncooperative. A bit more individualistic kindness and process explanations would have been appreciated. Instead I felt like my questions were judged.

This visit was extremely short. My physician recommended that I see a gynecologist since my period comes every 3 weeks instead of every 4 weeks like it used to. I asked the gynecologist about this and she told me this is normal for premenopause. The gynecologist was going to do a breast exam, but I informed her that I just had a mammogram completed one week prior to this appointment. Hopefully I will be able to get a pap smear in June 2026. I requested a pap smear during this visit, but the gynecologist said it was too soon since my last pap smear.
