Seth Levitz, MD, a hand and upper extremity surgeon at Endeavor Health, treats a wide range of conditions from the elbow to the fingertips. I had a swollen left thumb, and an arthritic spur atop it. The Dr said he was giving me a Cortisone shot. I had never had one nor knew what to expect. It was super painful and right In the most painful area. Then, he left the room . No further explanation followed. It hurt so much and of course I realized the fluid was still in my hand, but it moves.I was so upset without knowledge as to the expectations of the shot . My thumb is now more flexible, and the fluid is still in my hand towards the wrist. Positively, we had arrived a little early for the appointment, sat down in the waiting area and were immediately taken in for my appointment. What a pleasant surprise to be called early!!!I realize that arthritis will always be bothering me , and now I know to expect pain from the shot, I guess being healthy for so many years, I must now learn what others learned years ago. Cortisone shots are very painful to receive in already painful areas.Of course I am grateful for every Doctor . They have spent years becoming successful in their area. Thankfully , I have not needed their services. Therefore I am extremely blessed.

The trigger finger is still spasming, although not as frequently or painfully as before. It doubles up when I'm gardening, as does the adjacent finger. Even though the main purpose of my visit was to discuss and schedule surgery on my carpal tunnel syndrome, I appreciated that Dr. Levitz also let me see the x-rays of my hands and showed me where arthritis was developing in my right thumb. I have a long history of arthritis which I inherited at an early age from my father's side of the family. I was treated like I have a right to know what is happening to me and that goes a long way with me.
