At Endeavor Health, you benefit from rapid, accurate and comprehensive evaluation of a wide range of thyroid and parathyroid conditions, with a care plan tailored to your diagnosis.

Thyroid nodules

Small growths in the thyroid gland; most are benign but some may require biopsy or removal.

Thyroid cancer

Malignant growths in the thyroid; includes papillary, follicular, oncocytic, medullary, and anaplastic types.

Recurrent thyroid cancer

Thyroid cancer that returns after previous treatment, often managed with surgery or additional therapies.

Goiter

Enlargement of the thyroid that may cause swelling in the neck or pressure symptoms.

Hyperthyroidism / Graves’ disease

Overactive thyroid causing symptoms like rapid heartbeat, weight loss and anxiety.

Toxic thyroid nodules

Nodules that produce excess thyroid hormone independently of normal regulation.

Hyperparathyroidism

Overactive parathyroid glands causing high calcium levels, bone, kidney, or cognitive problems.

Parathyroid cancer

Rare malignancy of the parathyroid glands, requiring surgical management.

Multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN)

Genetic conditions causing tumors in multiple endocrine glands, including the thyroid and parathyroid.

We combine a detailed medical history, physical examination, imaging and laboratory testing with minimally invasive procedures like fine-needle aspiration, to ensure an accurate understanding of your thyroid or parathyroid condition.

  • Comprehensive endocrine surgical evaluation: Physical exam along with a detailed review of your medical history and symptoms.
  • Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy: Minimally invasive technique to test thyroid nodules for cancer.
  • Cancer genetic testing: Helps guide treatment if you are at risk for hereditary thyroid or parathyroid cancers.
  • Imaging and lab assessment: Ultrasound, CT, MRI, and blood tests, as indicated, for a full picture of gland function and disease.

You receive an individualized treatment plan, including surgical and minimally invasive options.

  • Hemithyroidectomy (thyroid lobectomy): Removal of one lobe of the thyroid, often for benign nodules or unilateral cancer.
  • Total thyroidectomy: Complete removal of the thyroid gland for larger or bilateral thyroid cancers or goiters.
  • Parathyroidectomy: Removal of one or more parathyroid glands to treat hyperparathyroidism or tumors.
  • Lymph node dissections: Removal of lymph nodes in the neck when thyroid cancer has spread to nearby nodes.
  • Minimally invasive surgical techniques: Smaller incisions, precise approaches, and image-guided procedures that reduce recovery time.
  • Radiofrequency ablation (RFA): A nonsurgical procedure that uses heat to shrink thyroid nodules (future option when equipment is available).
