From a biopsy I have high-grade high-risk prostate cancer with multiple treatment options (surgery or radiation). Previous doctors (radiation oncologist, medical oncologist and urology surgeon) told me the decision of how to proceed was my decision to make alone. I had hoped for consensus between doctors. When I met with Dr. Helfand he patiently explained complex options and alternatives in simple terms and the medical details about them. He ultimately helped me to decide that surgery performed by Dr. Helfand was the best option.
