Bone fractures are common. From children to older adults, anyone can experience a broken bone. Treatment may look like a brace, splint or cast to keep the bone immobile. Depending on the severity and location of the fracture, surgery may be needed and require an inpatient stay, as with traumatic injuries from an accident or a hip fracture. Surgery also may be performed on an outpatient or same day basis for a less severe injury.
Our goal at Endeavor Health is to ensure your injury heals properly while reducing the chance of re-injury or chronic pain. Our multidisciplinary team offers urgent, as well as ongoing trauma and fracture care.
Endeavor Health provides treatment for a wide variety of orthopedic injuries.
- Oblique fractures occur when the bone is broken at an angle
- Transverse fractures run in the opposite direction of your bone and the fracture line goes through the bone
- Spiral fractures occur when the bone is broken with a twisting motion, so it looks like a corkscrew
- Comminuted fractures happen when the bone is shattered into three or more pieces
- Compound (open) fractures appear when the bone breaks through the skin exposing it
A traumatic fracture can be caused by a fall from significant height, a serious car accident or a severe sports-related injury. These can often require surgical intervention, and we’re here to help you recover with expert care.
Endeavor Health offers state-of-the-art treatment options for traumatic injuries and fracture care, including surgical, non-surgical options and supportive care.
Surgical options
This surgical technique is used to treat complex or displaced fractures. A broken bone is realigned and held together with medical hardware to promote healing.
When bones are misaligned, this method is used to help hold a bone in place during the healing process.
Using smaller incisions and advanced imaging guidance, this surgical approach minimizes soft tissue damage and decreases recovery time while providing support for the broken bone.
When a traumatic injury happens to a joint, reconstruction surgery may be needed to restore mobility. Reconstruction may include reshaping, grafting or implanting new components to help get you moving again.
This procedure is used to fill gaps or promote healing for complex breaks. In some cases, this means removing hardware once a bone has had time to heal or if it’s causing pain.
Non-surgical options
This stabilizes an injury to prevent further harm and facilitate proper healing.
X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs are all imaging tools that our physicians use to properly determine the extent of an injury and decide on the most effective treatment.
We use a combination of over the counter and prescription medications to help our patients manage their discomfort and support them while they heal.
Physical therapy begins after a bone has healed and patients can begin to work toward increased strength, mobility and long-term recovery.
Our care team works with patients to design a lifestyle that supports their healing and gets them to where they want to be.

Frequently asked questions
A traumatic fracture is caused by a sudden, high-energy impact — such as a car accident, sports injury or fall from a height. These injuries often require surgical intervention and expert orthopedic care.
Recovery time can vary depending on the type of fracture and its level of severity. Most fractures heal in six to eight weeks, but complex or trauma-related fractures may take longer and require additional rehab.
Common types include transverse, oblique, spiral, comminuted and compound (open) fractures. Our orthopedic specialists tailor treatment based on the fracture type, severity and location.
Broken bones can happen to anyone — from children on the playground to athletes and weekend warriors to older adults with osteoporosis. The risk increases significantly with age and women are more likely to experience fractures after menopause. Lifestyle habits, such as smoking and lack of exercise, certain medications and medical issues can also increase the risk of fracture.
Fractures are very common. An estimated 6 million people in the U.S. break a bone each year, making fractures one of the most treated injuries and occurs in people of all ages.
