Endeavor Health has partnered with Howard Brown Health to provide training to enhance its mental health care and expand their behavioral health team through Endeavor Health’s Community Investment Fund (CIF).

Howard Brown Health is a federally-qualified health center that provides physical and mental health care services, including expert care to the LGBTQ+ population and its allies.

Through the CIF partnership, Howard Brown Health has dramatically transformed their behavioral health team skills and capabilities thanks to training on trauma-informed care approaches for their team members and clinicians.

Howard Brown Health staff has been trained in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and will be trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). The training equips staff to treat people experiencing complex trauma, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community.

“The Community Investment Fund has been profoundly impactful,” said Kelly Ducheny, PsyD, senior advisor, education and clinical practice at Howard Brown Health.

“When you have somebody validating you and also understanding that complexity and is able to help you navigate that, you become more confident,” said Katie Metos, vice president of external relations at Howard Brown Health. “Our providers have become more confident because they have this skill that’s unique to Howard Brown.

“When we have people leave our sites after a therapy session, we see the difference in their walk, we see the difference in how they talk,” Metos said.
