Nurses are vital members of our multidisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals, helping to set new standards in patient care through prevention, early detection and treatment of complex diseases. Our nurses provide both clinical expertise and emotional support to patients and their families before, during and after treatment.

Our unique nursing structure enables personal and professional growth by providing many opportunities for our nursing staff to excel — from improving patient safety and conducting research projects to becoming an advanced practice nurse in an area of clinical interest.

2024-2026 nursing strategic plan

Nursing research

Endeavor Health is dedicated to empowering nurses to lead advancements in patient care through research and evidence-based practice (EBP). Nurses who have a clinical question, an idea for a study, or an interest in improving clinical practice through inquiry and innovation are encouraged to explore these opportunities.

To foster a culture of inquiry, the Endeavor Health Nursing Research and Innovation Council supports nurses across all inpatient, ambulatory and outpatient settings. The council reviews nursing projects involving patients or nurses and serves as a guiding resource to help investigators navigate each step of the nursing research, evidence-based practice and quality improvement processes.

Additionally, the council partners with the Institutional Research Administrators and local Institutional Review Boards (IRB) to ensure that all studies involving human subjects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

As part of Clinical Research Unit (CRU) 8, Nursing Research Investigators and staff have access to a variety of resources to support their projects, including statistical analysis, study design and IRB submission support, grant application assistance, and poster printing.

The council also plays a vital role in protecting the integrity and confidentiality of organizational data used in research activities.

For more information, contact the council at nursingresearchandinnovation [at] endeavorhealth.org (nursingresearchandinnovation[at]endeavorhealth[dot]org).

We invite all nurses and healthcare professionals at Endeavor Health to engage with our program — whether by submitting a research question, participating in projects or attending our biannual research symposiums. Together, we can translate evidence into practice and continue to elevate the quality of care for our patients.

Endeavor Health has adopted the Iowa model of evidence-based practice as the foundational framework for all nursing research and quality improvement initiatives. This model guides our nurses in systematically identifying clinical problems, reviewing and appraising the best available evidence, implementing practice changes, and evaluating outcomes. By embracing the Iowa Model, Endeavor Health ensures that nursing research is closely aligned with real-world clinical needs and cultivates a culture of continuous learning and improvement across all care settings.

Endeavor Health Nursing Research and Innovation Council utilizes Ovid® Synthesis, a powerful evidence-based workflow tool that supports nurses in every stage of research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. It streamlines literature searches, helps organize and critically appraise evidence, and guides users through the development of PICOT questions and structured project workflows. By centralizing documentation, facilitating team collaboration, and supporting IRB and publication needs, Ovid® Synthesis empowers nurses to make high-quality, evidence-informed decisions that improve patient care and align with organizational goals.

Endeavor Health is proud to host biannual nursing research and evidence-based practice (EBP) symposiums. These dynamic events showcase the outstanding contributions of Endeavor Health nurses, employees, and affiliated students in the areas of nursing research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement. The symposiums serve as a platform for sharing innovations, fostering collaboration, and inspiring excellence in patient care. Attendees have the opportunity to engage with poster and podium presentations, network with colleagues, and celebrate the impact of nursing science across Endeavor Health hospitals.

These events offer continuing nursing education credits for attendees and center around timely themes such as health equity, patient safety, and interprofessional collaboration. Each symposium features renowned keynote speakers, expert panel discussions, and opportunities for knowledge exchange. Nurses and students are encouraged to submit abstracts for consideration. The symposiums exemplify Endeavor Health’s commitment to advancing nursing excellence and improving patient outcomes through inquiry, innovation, and evidence-based practice.
