About our SportsCare Program

Athletes and active individuals deserve quick, specialized medical care when they need it most. The SportsCare Program offers concierge-level access to top sports medicine specialists, orthopaedic surgeons, and a range of other specialists within the Endeavor Health system so you receive the best possible treatment — without the wait.

Focused on sports-related injury prevention, the Endeavor Health SportsCare team works directly with coaches, athletic trainers, parents and athletes of all ages to achieve a higher level of performance on and off the field. We partner with schools, sports teams, clubs and individual athletes to provide a streamlined connection to care, whether you need injury evaluation, treatment recommendations or recovery support.

Michelle Knizner, MSEd., LAT, ATC


Michelle completed her undergraduate education at the University of Illinois, where she received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology/athletic training. She went on to graduate school at Northern Illinois University, receiving her master’s degree in sport management. During this time Michelle worked as the head athletic trainer for women’s basketball, women’s soccer and softball.

Following graduate school, she went to work for Physico Sports & Rehab Services, where she was assigned to Wheaton St. Francis High School and Timothy Christian High School. From there, she accepted a position with Newsome Physical Therapy, where she worked as the assistant athletic trainer for Oswego High School.

In 2014, Michelle was promoted to regional sports medicine manager for the norther suburbs for Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers. When Athletico Physical Therapy merged with Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers, she accepted the position of regional athletic training coordinator for the south suburbs and central Illinois. In 2017, Michelle accepted a position with SportsCare USA as Sports Medicine Outreach Manager to provide outreach service for AMITA Health (now Ascension Illinois). In 2023 SportsCare USA transitioned it’s partnership to NorthShore University HealthSystem (now Endeavor Health) where she currently manages outreach services.

Sam Cochran, MS, LAT, ATC


As SportsCare Senior Liaison, Sam connects athletes of all ages in the community with injury prevention information and specialty services offered by Endeavor Health.

Sam earned her bachelor’s degree from Anderson University in athletic training, followed by a master’s degree in kinesiology from Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. She has worked in a variety of settings including youth, high school, collegiate, professional, and adult recreation as well as varying sports including soccer, football, volleyball, tennis, basketball, swimming, gymnastics, cross country, track & field, hockey, field hockey, lacrosse, softball, baseball, cheer & dance. This has provided her a multitude of unique experiences working with athletes of all age, skill, and fitness levels. Additionally, she was a competitive athlete herself which has helped make her the well-rounded and strong professional she is today.

Sam is the SportsCare liaison covering the Chicago area for orthopedics and sports medicine at Endeavor Health.

Beth Richardson, MBA, LAT, ATC


Beth earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training from Lewis University. She began her career with ATI Physical Therapy as an Outreach Athletic Trainer at Bloom Trail High School and later at Marist High School. While working full time, she pursued a Master of Business Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

During graduate school, Beth worked as a PRN athletic trainer, providing coverage across the Chicagoland area for high schools, colleges, club teams, and professional-level athletes. Beth is the Sports Medicine Outreach Liaison servicing the community near the NorthShore University hospitals.

Heather Poffenbarger, MS, LAT, ATC


As Sports Medicine Outreach Liaison, Heather connects athletes of all ages in the community with injury prevention information and specialty services offered by Endeavor Health.

Heather completed her undergraduate degree at Aurora University, where she received a bachelor's degree in athletic training. After completing her bachelor’s degree, Heather joined ATI Physical Therapy, providing coverage for Reed Custer High school before transitioning back to Aurora University as one of their outreach athletic trainers. During her time with Aurora University, Heather worked with a variety of teams including women’s volleyball, men’s ice hockey and women’s lacrosse. Heather continued her education with a Master’s degree in Sports Psychology through PennWest University (formerly California University of Pennsylvania).

Heather is the Sports Medicine Outreach Liaison servicing the community near Edward hospital.

Marcus completed his undergraduate education at Missouri Baptist University, where he received a bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine with a minor in Kinesiology. He went on to graduate school at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, receiving his master's degree in Exercise Physiology. During this time, Marcus worked as a graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer, for the Blazers' nationally ranked soccer program.

Following graduate school, he accepted a position as Teacher and Head Athletic Trainer at Mountain Ridge High School in Phoenix, Arizona. From there, he joined Bradley University as Assistant Athletic Trainer, where he was promoted to Head Athletic Trainer in 2007, coordinating healthcare for 14 Division I sports teams. He was inducted into the Bradley University Hall of Fame in 2024 as a member of the 2005-2006-2007 Soccer Teams.

In 2012, Marcus transitioned to ATI Physical Therapy as Sports Medicine Supervisor supporting high schools and managing athletic trainers in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. He was promoted to Director of Sports Medicine for Illinois in 2016, where he directed a team of Regional Managers supporting over 100 high schools accounts across the Midwest.

In 2024, Marcus joined Lewis University as Associate Head Athletic Trainer, administering athletic training services across 22 Division II sports. In 2025, he accepted a position with SportsCare, USA as an Outreach Liaison for Endeavor Health

Marcus is the Outreach Liaison servicing the community near Elmhurst and Northwest Community hospitals.
