Ongoing research initiatives
Our multidisciplinary team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, neuropsychologists and research personnel collaborate on a wide array of studies, many of which are national and international in scope.
Key highlights include:
We are part of two international groups working together to improve understanding and treatment of Parkinson’s disease. The Genetic Epidemiology of Parkinson’s Disease (GEoPD) is dedicated to promoting education, scientific research and translational development in Parkinson’s disease across 60 sites in 29 countries. The Global Parkinson’s Genetics Program (GP2) is working towards understanding the genetic architecture of Parkinson’s disease and accelerating the development of effective treatments.
By harnessing information from electronic medical records and genetic data, we are identifying DNA variations that predict neurological outcomes, guiding the understanding of disease, and modifying treatments for 11 different neurological disorders.
CTE is caused by repeated head injuries and currently can only be diagnosed after death. Our specialists were the first to use advanced imaging to detect CTE during life. In a phase 3 clinical trial that will begin later this year, we will use positron emission tomography (PET) scans to diagnose CTE in living patients. Accurate diagnosis may lead to the development of treatments to potentially slow or stop CTE progression.
We are investigating a new surgical approach to repair vertebral compression fragility fractures — typically caused by osteoporosis — through the use of a new material that is eventually reabsorbed and replaced by bone. We are also evaluating artificial joint replacement to treat degenerative disc disease in the cervical spine.
Strokes are caused by blood clots (ischemic stroke) or bleeding (hemorrhagic stroke) in the brain. We are conducting several trials of medical treatments and minimally invasive surgical procedures to treat both types of stroke and improve patient outcomes. We are also evaluating ways to reduce the risk of stroke as well as the use of sensitive advanced imaging techniques to increase the accuracy of stroke diagnosis.

- Understanding neurological conditions like Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis
- Developing innovative diagnostic tools to improve early detection and monitoring
- Advancing surgical techniques and therapies for spine, stroke, epilepsy and brain tumors
- Evaluating new drugs, compared with standard treatments, in multiple sclerosis, migraine, brain tumors, and stroke, among many others
Frequently asked questions about clinical trials
Eligibility depends on the specific study. Criteria may include factors like age, medical history or the condition being treated. Our team will guide you through the process to see if a trial is right for you.
No. At Endeavor Health, our clinical trials are conducted locally, so you can access advanced research without leaving your community.
As a participant, you gain access to innovative treatments and contribute to advancements that help others. You’ll also receive close monitoring and care from our research team.

Typically, the study sponsor will cover the cost of evaluations, procedures or tests that are required as part of a clinical trial. Generally, “standard of care,” or routine medical care associated with a study, will be billed to you or your insurance. Some trials may offer a payment or “stipend,” for participation, and some may reimburse for expenses such as travel or meals. Any costs or payments associated with a given study are detailed in the Informed Consent Form.
