About the program

Train in core venipuncture and specimen collection techniques through a flexible, hands-on program designed for aspiring healthcare professionals. This 8-week program combines online coursework with early-morning clinical rotations at Endeavor Health hospitals. While the program is currently on hold, it remains a key part of our commitment to high-quality laboratory education.

Program structure & curriculum

Duration: 8 weeks
Format: Online coursework + in-person practicum

How to apply

When the program is open for enrollment, a completed application includes:

  • Application form with $15 non-refundable fee
  • Copy of high school diploma or GED
  • Two typed letters of reference on institutional or professional letterhead
  • Signed Essential Functions Agreement
  • Interview (scheduled upon receipt of all materials)

Foreign graduates must also submit:

  • Proof of acceptable visa or EAD
  • Credential evaluation if high school diploma/GED was completed outside the U.S.
Facilities

Primary training occurs at Glenbrook Hospital’s new Cardiovascular Institute, opened in 2024. Students also rotate at:

  • Evanston Hospital
  • Highland Park Hospital
  • Skokie Hospital
  • University of Chicago Medical Center (Advanced HF & Transplant)

The training environment includes state-of-the-art labs, high-fidelity simulation, and a diverse patient population representing both suburban and urban communities.
