The Swedish Hospital Podiatry Residency Program provides a robust and well-rounded training experience grounded in surgical excellence, patient diversity and multidisciplinary care. About the program

The Swedish Hospital Podiatry Residency is a three-year program that prepares graduates of podiatric medical schools for careers in podiatric surgery and comprehensive foot and ankle care. Residents gain intensive surgical experience, continuity of care through clinic settings and exposure to a wide variety of specialties. Our program emphasizes procedural competency, evidence-based decision making and professional growth within a supportive, team-based environment.

How to apply

Graduates of accredited podiatric medical schools are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit their materials through the Central Application Service for Podiatric Residencies (CASPR). Interviews are conducted via the Centralized Residency Interview Program (CRIP) each January.

From hands-on surgical training to dedicated wellness resources, the Swedish Hospital Podiatry Residency is designed to support residents both professionally and personally. 

Residents receive a competitive salary aligned with PGY level:

  • PGY-1: $74,481
  • PGY-2: $79,165
  • PGY-3: $81,619

Benefits include comprehensive medical and dental insurance, a $1,800 annual meal stipend and CME support:

  • $1,000 CME allowance in PGY-1 and PGY-2
  • $2,000 CME allowance in PGY-3

Residents are eligible for 20 days of paid annual leave and 5 additional CME days. All residents have gym access. The program values work-life balance and fosters a collegial, supportive culture within Swedish Hospital.

Clinical work is centered around the podiatry continuity clinic within the orthopedic office, with access to surgical suites, a wound care center and shared learning spaces. Residents are supported by approachable faculty, hospital staff and program leadership dedicated to their success.
